E-Cycling
Definition - E-cycling is the practice of reusing, or distributing for reuse, electronic equipment and components rather than discarding them at the end of their life cycle.
Discarded electronics and electronic components (e-waste) are creating a serious problem because of toxic elements involved in their manufacture. In the vast majority of cases, discarded computers and other electronic devices, such as cell phones, are functional and could be passed on to another individual or organization. Often, even non-functioning devices can be refurbished and resold or donated. Organizations such as StRUT (Students Recycling Used Technology), the National Cristina Foundation, and the Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT) collect and refurbish donated computer equipment for redistribution to schools and charities around the world.
A number of initiatives, such as eBay's Rethink project, have arisen to promote e-cycling. Dell, IBM, Intel, and Hewlett-Packard are among the members of Rethink.
Secure Data Destruction
We know organizations are concerned about the confidential and proprietary data that is on their retired computer systems. Rest at ease, we are too. Just to show you how serious we take this matter, we built not one, but two choices for you to ensure that your proprietary/confidential data stays that way. Not only that, we have a change-of-custody process to ensure your data is safe from the time of pick-up until final destruction.
Our access-controlled data security lab includes a custom built air-actuated punch that will produce 3,000 lbs. of force to physically destroy a hard disk, which is obviously not the ideal route for reuse. The preferred option is wiping disks, which we can do even beyond the recommended US DoD 5220.22-M processing standard. The data security service is available with destruction certification to document that your data was destroyed. Contact us for a sample report. Additionally, we have a change-of-custody process to ensure your data is safe from the time of pick-up until final destruction.
Recycle, Reuse
The EPA has publicly stated that the number one way to reduce solid waste in landfills is through reuse. Yes, recycling plays a critical role in properly reducing solid waste in landfills. However, for any material that is deemed reusable, reuse is the most economical and environmentally friendly way. Simply said, reuse requires the least amount of energy to gain a consumer benefit, it is better for your wallet as well as for Mother Nature.
We agree with the EPA and carry out this belief when processing material at our facilities. When we receive material, it is classified into two different categories; reusable or recyclable equipment. Reusable equipment is sent to our qualified technicians who perform testing, repairing, and upgrading required to make it remarketable. Equipment is classified as recyclable when we realize that it is outdated for reuse and/or beyond repair. When the equipment is deemed recyclable, it is sent to one of many equipment specific dismantling departments. The equipment is manually separated and sorted into various groupings to maximize the final recovery of raw materials.

The Process: Recycling & End-of-life Management
- Components are dismantled then sorted
- Reusable metals, plastics and glass are recommisioned into the market as raw materials
- Circuit boards are ground-up and the precious metals are extracted for reuse in other electronics
- To combat the current Green House Gas Emissions and other dangerous pollutants that are released during the mainstream incineration process, our company utilizes environmentally-friendly methods of disposing e-waste that requires no chemical leaching and no toxic burning.
